The 2nd Amendment - in Discworld!

For those not familiar with Sir Terry Pratchett's "Discworld" books, all I can say is you are missing a real treat.  this can be fixed very quickly, with a trip to your local library or bookstore.

The snippet for today precisely describes the ORIGINAL meaning of the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution, and is from "Nanny Ogg's Cookbook" by Sir Terry with the help of a few others.  Extremely brief background:  Lancre is the name of a small kindgom which is the site of a number of the series' stories.

"In Lancre we have what I suppose you'd call a constitutional monarchy if we had a constitution.  What this means is this:  there is only one king and more'n five hundred subjects, and they all work every day at jobs which mostly involve sharp things.  It's one of those lessons that are so obvious they don't have to be taught."

More trickery to UNDERMINE Constitutional limits on government!!

Another EXCELLENT article by Publius Huldah on the latest in the *long* list of attempts to undermine the Constitutional limits ont he actions of the federal government.

The ONLY real solution to our dilemma is for We, the People, to understand (1) The Constitutional limits on the federal government (by reading and studying the actual document -- it is NOT hard!), (2) The Principles that underlie the Constitution -- what it was designed to espouse and protect -- which are in the Declaration of Independence; and then to act in accordance with those principles and demand state and federal representatives who will uphold their oaths!

NONE of this will ever work without the understanding of We, the People.

In our eagerness to get by without lifting a finger (or a page) in our own behalf, we are willing to jump on bad bandwagon after worse bandwagon of horrible idea with spiffy-sounding name.

WAKE UP, people -- before you find yourself in chains!  Time is running out.
