There has been quite a tempest recently regarding a proposed "Parental Rights Amendment" which does, so far as this writer can ascertain, exactly the opposite of what it purports to do.  This is typical behavior of "progressives" (who are not, in fact, progressive at all; rather they seek to forcibly return us to the oligarchic systems we overthrew and denounce din the late 1770's).

I am frightened. Literally. As a political activist, I am quite fearful, daily, of what is happening in our nation today. I don't mind telling you all this, either. I am scared witless, for lack of a better term. When Scott Brown won his first race I, like many thousands more of you who helped him, felt very relieved. I foolishly believed that Obama would move more to the center like Clinton did in 1994 when the House went Republican after almost 50 years. I mean, here was a "Republican" who beat a popular Democrat in a state that is 3:1 in favor of Democrats and he took the Prince Edward Kennedy "people's seat" running on a pledge to be the 41st vote against the Socialist-at-best and Communist-at-worst "Obamacare." I thought my political activism was all done on January 19, 2010, the night Scott Brown (now a super RINO) defeated Martha Coakley. But then March 21st came, 1/6th of our economy was "reconciled" to the state, the Democrat SOCIALISTS on the House Floor chanted the 1917 Communist Revolution chant of "Yes, We Can" and they forced that insidious law on the American people who didn't and still don't want it as evidenced by the FIRST Brown election and by their own actions such as the current delay in implementation of a key part prior to a major election cycle. 

On that night, Sunday, March 21, 2010, as the Democrat Socialists chanted "Yes, We Can", I decided right then and there I would be a political activist for the rest of my natural life. I became heavily involved by first eliminating all vices from my personal life, getting back with Church and God and then studying. I attended Republican City Committee meetings, attended campaign schools, worked on many campaigns, went to lectures and speeches, attended rallies and events, went to Washington DC to march on the Capitol, ran for Republican State Committee and won even after suspending my campaign and thanking God for blessing me with that win. I am currently the Vice President of a Republican Assembly District, and in a few moments I am going to pass in my nomination papers to become a candidate for City Council in my home town. 

I am frightened. I have studied, as have many of you. And, we know, what is really happening to our nation. The attempt to dissolve America from within. This is why the Founders added the words "...all enemies, foreign AND DOMESTIC...." to our sworn oaths of office. I will not let my fear daunt me from performing my duty. And, when I see fellow activists first hand, or read/watch/listen to what all of you on my friends list are doing across the fruited plain, my fear subsides and I focus, I energize, and I take action. 

My fellow Americans, my friends, my brothers and sisters in Christ, in God, in love, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU and while we may share some fear and apprehension as the statists try to legislate our demise, or litigate our demise, or seek our demise through the bureaucracies or in the streets with LAME STREAM media aiding and abetting them, all this while we are being divided and side tracked by hyped up superficialities in the "news", know that we have each other, we have the truth, we have God and WE SHALL WIN THE DAY!!! Stay the course.

Supreme Law of the Land!

The Constitution IS the supreme law of the land, to uphold which every official swears an oath. 

The Framers wrote exactly what they meant; that meaning was discussed fully (see the Federalist Papers) and the concerns about over-reach were also brought up (see the Anti-Federalist Papers). 

The people, through their state conventions, approved it *as it was written and meant* and that is how it must be obeyed. 

If we don't like something -- we must amend. No end-runs via activist judges and a legislative and executive branch who simply pay no attention. It is We, the People, who must enforce. 

Step #1 -- learn what the document says and WHY it says what it does.

George Washington said in his Farewell Address in 1796, "If in the opinion of the people the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this in one instance may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed."

Most people today are not willing to skip a rerun episode of TV for their country.

When in the course of Human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these united Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States...  And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.

Addressing MANY issues at once

Is the following article by Constitutional scholar par excellence, Publius Huldah.  It addresses a number of issues pertinent to the events of the past few weeks, including today.  The first couple of paragraphs are copied here, with permission -- with a link at the end to the rest of the article.  She does go back and edit from time to time; by linking rather than copying in full, you are assured of the most recent edition.  The only change I have made is to add the word "footnote" where this blog does not support a superscript, and an extra space where two words looked a bit crammed together.

For the non-religious reader, please do not be put off by the title; the principles explained protect your right *not* to believe, and make your life in this country better, as well.  Just as one need not be enamored of the music of Beethoven to appreciate his genius, one need not be a believer to appreciate the underpinnings of our Constitution.


The Biblical Foundation of Our Constitution.

The English Puritans who came here in the 1630's knew that the Old Testament has a great deal to say about civil government. And they came to build that shining city on a hill.

They did not come here to escape from the World, to wait for the end of the World, and to surrender it to evil.

And so – we became a shining city on a hill. The fundamental act of our Founding, the Declaration of Independence, recognizes the Creator God as the Source of Rights; (footnote 1) and acknowledges that the purpose of civil government is simply to “secure” the Rights God gave us. The Constitution we subsequently ratified was based on God’s model of civil government as set forth in the Bible.

That is why our Country was so much better than what the rest of the World has been.  For the most part, we followed God’s model for civil government; other countries didn’t.

The blessing which flows from God’s model is limited civil government which is under The Law. That is why our Liberty Bell quotes Lev. 25:10 – “Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof.”

Today I came across the article linked below, not dated but relatively recent.  It is excellent, and highly recommended.


Here are a couple of little excerpts, to entice you to go read the entire article.

"What many citizens and legislators do not understand is that the federal government has no right to prevent any law-abiding citizen from owning or possessing ANY firearm. The Constitution and its history is unequivocally clear on this! "


and

" No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves; that men acting by virtue of powers, may do not only what their powers do not authorize, but what they forbid.”  Alexander Hamilton, Federalist Paper #78."

Why study the Constitution and its history? It's boring, isn't it?

The best answer to that is a quote from Terry Pratchett, from the Author's Note to his book, "I Shall Wear Midnight" (the Tiffany Aching series is highly recommended, as are all his books).

"It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you don't know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you're going.  And if you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong."

Thanks to years of poor history teachers, I grew up thinking that history was boring and stupid.  Silly, really, when I also loved the stories of my grandparents - which was real history, unlike the dried-and-desiccated leftovers in the textbooks.  

History really is fascinating -- as well as terribly useful.  Much of what we deplore (left and right!) in this country today is a result of our ignorance of our own history and our Constitution.  

Read them.  Study them.  Study particularly the REASONS behind the choices the Framers made when they wrote the document, and how they arrived at their choices.  It is astounding.
