As my earlier post stated, mankind has invented numerous ways to commit evil.

If today's explosions in Boston turn out to the caused by firearms powder, there will be calls to ban the sale of powder.

If high explosives, those already are not available for sale -- yet still, people have been killed and many others seriously wounded.

THE PROBLEM OF EVIL PERSISTS REGARDLESS OF THE SPECIFIC METHOD USED.

It is the problem of EVIL which needs to be addressed.  That must be done with moral education, with ethics, with religious training, with philosophy, and -- first and foremost -- with two things admitted.

1.  Evil EXISTS, has always existed, will always exist until the world is made new (NOT by the actions of humanity, ever).

2.  Moral relativity is itself EVIL because it seeks to excuse evil "if we only understand; it's their way, their culture, it's just different, it's just as good, who are we to judge."  NO.

We may not judge intentions or hearts; we MUST judge ACTIONS.  Murder is wrong.  Murder in the name of re-education, in the name of G-d, in the name of ideology -- is still wrong; is still evil.

That evil is not mitigated on iota if it is committed with a shoelace; it is not worsened by being committed with an IED.  Evil is Evil is Evil.

Mankind has a streak of evil; Alexander Solzhenitsyn said the line runs through the middle of each human heart.

That is the proper place to fight the battle against evil.

I read a post elsewhere from a woman, obviously responding to an earlier post that I did not see. The content of the earlier post was easy to infer; it must have been on the order of, "This attack will be used to try to take guns away from law-abiding people," as her comment was, "What good would armed bystanders have done yesterday?"

She completely has the point upside down.

The point is, what would have been the effect of the disarming of law-abiding citizens, yesterday?

None.

Absolutely NONE.

The problem is EVIL and the myriad ways hatred is expressed. The tool is incidental -- and the disarming of good people PROMOTES the intentions of evil, no matter how well (or ill) meant that actionis.

One of the tools evil excels at using is deflecting attention away from itself. If people can be made to think that the TOOL is the problem, they spend their time and efforts on removing the tool. Evil is then left free to work through other tools.

It also works more easily once tools that can be used _against_ it are removed.

I think rate of evel people tend to do depends on education level. But it now jus usual education but also I mean moral and cultural aspects as well. Feeling of mutual respect, tolerance and understand should be upbring from early age that can really help in this case. Moreover, it's good to ban violent games, shows and movie to not provoke our dark side.

Educating childhood (plus adults) properly was an idyllic for which to struggle. The finish result of good education is knowledge - else education brings no high-quality.
